Video Transcript for CE Smith Boat Trailer Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts Review

Hi there boat trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods. And this is what our replacement roller rod's going to look like. These are available in either two different diameters, whether it be five eighths, like we have here or half inch, you just want to match it up to your old one. And they're also available in varying lengths. So that way you can get the proper span for your particular trailer.

And all of them are zinc coated to protect them from rusting corrosion, which is very common on your boat trailers since you're pulling it in and out of the boat dock all the time, you're next to the Lake. They often get wet. So this way we can ensure that we're going to have long lasting operation of this rod, and it's not going to seize up inside of here due to rust and corrosion. Also included with it you'll receive cap nuts for each side of your rod. And these are nice because once you press them on there, they're pretty much a permanent fit, you have to really try to get them off of there. And since this is a roller, it doesn't ever really get forces side to side, but we don't want to use regular thread on nuts on something like this since it does roll.

That could potentially cause the nuts to back off. So this is an ideal solution. If your old keel roller or keel roller rod are worn out and need replacement, the replacement shaft here is going to be a great option for you because it's kind of a one use thing, unless you can get yourself some new cap nuts. And even if you do get new cabinets, if it's heavily corroded and worn down, those cap nuts may not fit as tight and as properly as they used to.So when replacing your keel roller, when it's wore out, I highly recommend also replacing the keel roller rod. The rod is going to be made of solid steel with a zinc coating.

So it's going to be extremely durable holding up the weight that is pressed down from the boat sitting on it there. And the zinc coat is going to protect it against rust and corrosion. If your keel roller is worn out. And that's why you're looking at getting replacements. We also carry the keel rollers here at etrailer.com.

So you can get a set up just like this. You can see how nice and smooth it is, and we've got a nice surface for our boat to rest on.Today we're going to be replacing the keel roller's shaft because our key roller's all damaged up and in order to get the roller off, we have to take the shaft out and the nuts typically get damaged and are not reusable. So we're just going to be replacing it all as an assembly. Start by removing our roller's nuts. We're just going to get behind it with a pair of pliers. We're just going to pop that cap off of there. inaudible 00:02:18. Our shaft will then slide out. We can remove our roller and then install our new components. We've got our shaft here and I find it easier to get one cap nut on first. So we're just going to set that on top and we're just going to hammer it into place. I'm going to use a rubber mallet just to help minimize how much dings I make on the little cap. And it's really that simple. And you can see here, there's no way I'm going to push this off. If I wanted to get this off of here, I would almost have to take another hammer and smash it off of there because you're just not going to be able to pull it off. Now we can just take our roller. We're going to set it into place. Slide our rod all the way through the roller, until it comes out on the other side. We'll then take our cap, we're going to set it into place. Now that we got it just barely started. We're going to finish tapping it on. I'm going to use a hammer on the other side, because it might hurt your hip or something else if you're holding it. And we can see our shaft spins, our roller spins and it's nice and solid, it's not going anywhere. Thought you need a hatchet. And that completes our look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods.

Great service, high quality. Exactly what I needed. Thank you very Much

by:

The shafts fit the rollers and the trailer bracket perfect and were an easy replacement. I’m glad I didn’t try to reuse any of my old parts. Would definitely purchase these again.

by:

Part worked perfectly!

by:

I got just what I ordered. the only improvement would be a spacer to fit in roller and over 5/8 rod to protect roller while turning on rod but have not seen that option offered anywhere.

by:

Fit and works perfectly

by:

I purchased leaf springs, wheels, tires and installation hardware for my boat trailer last summer. Delivery was prompt and the products were exactly as advertised. I also replaced the keel rollers. My trailer now functions like new.

by:

I have place 2 orders recently and both have arrived either early or right on time. Have had a great experience and recommend etrailer for quality and reliability

After replacing the Carpeted Bunks with the Roller Style Bunks, Loading and Unloading my Boat is a Dream! Wish I would have done it Five Years ago! You Center the boat on the Trailer and Drive it right up to the Winch.

by:

Worked great

by:

5’ roller bunks were shipped in a larger box that was only 58 1/2” long.. rollers were bent at 44”.. called customer service and they are shipping a new set, unfortunately a project is delayed because of an 1 1/2”. Products appear to be of higher quality, just the way it was shipped may need to be addressed. The box the bunks were in was also in a severe state of disrepair, one end appeared to have been torn open along with several other tears in the back that to have originate from poor handling in the warehouse. I have photos however, they will not upload successfully. I will be happy to email them if needed.

by:

I ordered a boat trailer roller and shaft. Fast shipping had the product at my door in a few days. Product was exactly what I needed and fit perfectly.

by:

Product fit my existing bracket and replaced the old warn out roller perfectly.

by:

Boat trailer roller and roller shaft. Exactly as described. Very fast shipment.
Would buy again from etrailer.com when trailer parts are needed.

by:

Good product! I re-did my entire boat trailer with replacement parts from Etrailer!

by:

Pin is exact to length. If you hammer the pal lock cap on too far on one end there won't be enough length to install cap on the other end. Could have been 1/4" longer to make it better.

by:

Trailer rollers, and axle's arrived sooner than I had expected. The job of installing the rollers was much easier than I thought it would be. I would order from this site again.

by:

This roller shaft fit perfectly and was easy to install. I used it with a 5 inch keel roller on my boat trailer.

by:

The parts are great a lot heavier duty then I was expecting. I am very happy with the products. the only suggestion is to make it more clear on the parts that come with no mounting bolts so you know to order the extra hardware.

by:

Very timely, products were exactly what I ordered. Even though I ordered the wrong roller shaft. (my fault)
Thanks

by:

It is for our boat trailer, fit well and the hubby is happy with it.

by:

Etrailer has good products at a fair price ..customer support is quick and
they resolve any related issues...mr.cclark/ny

by:

I have ordered twice from etrailer. I have found them very helpful and their quality is very good. I appreciate how fast they fill your order and how quickly it arrives. One suggestion, unless you need you order yesterday, just go with standard delivery. They are great.

by:

Roller shafts are great, however I ordered the wrong size and had reuse the old shafts!

by:

Everything came on time and in good condition. It replaced the old roller on boat trailer.

by:

Perfect! Just what I was looking for to modify a newer trailer to fit an older Lund boat I just purchased!
